Wilmington Dance Academy participates in three benefits for the holidays

Wilmington Dance Academy is thrilled to announce a terrific end to the year and beginning of the new filled with great performance, growth and fun in three separate benefit events this holiday season.

WDA was honored to have the chance to perform for its 2nd year and help underprivileged children at the Project Santa Benefit on Saturday November 21st at the Dracut High School in Dracut MA. Many other schools were represented and the spirit was warm and lively. It was a great chance to begin the performance season and to benefit a worthy cause. The benefit raised enough money to help 45 children in Dracut have Christmas this year!!! Benefit organizers consider the true meaning of the event to be during gift distribution when parents of the benefited children understand the community effort behind each gift. "I wish you could see the faces of the parents, hear the thanks and feel the hugs when they get their gifts." explained one organizer.

In its first year, the Warming Hearts Movement, a benefit at St. John's the Evangelist in Chelmsford, MA on Saturday December 19th raising money for charities such as St. Vincent de Paul and the Lowell Transition House was a tremendous success! WDA dancers again performed along with other dance studios and dance companies with great camaraderie in the spirit of the season.

The last performance of the season was a touching and comparatively intimate way to close the year on Tuesday December 29th st the Wilmington Senior Center holiday luncheon. One hundred residents were in attendance and warmly received the young dancers as they presented their highly-polished numbers to the delight of all. It was a multi-generational heart-warming event that the team and audience will not soon forget. Thank you Wilmington Seniors!

From a large, studio-sized floor to a small community space, WDA dancers rehearsed their pieces and adjusted choreography to fit the needs of each venue showing great talent, skill and adaptability at every event expressing the WDA motto to its fullest:
Work Dance, Achieve... but always have fun.

"We were truly honored and humbled to perform for these wonderful causes at a time when the season calls and the needs are great. I am bursting with pride over my girls. They held themselves with poise, grace and maturity at a level I have not often seen in my 15 years of teaching." said Laura Osgood, owner and Director.

Congratulations to all the WDA Performing Group students! You closed out 2009 with a bang and 2010 looks very bright indeed!
